Bok a Bok's New Classic Fried Chicken Sandwich
Living in First Hill, just a couple of blocks away from Capitol Hill, gives me so many options to grab a tasty meal whenever I would like. And when I am craving a fried chicken sandwich, it does not disappoint. This will be the first fried chicken sandwich I will be sharing, in what will be become of a series of fried chicken sandwiches around Seattle. It will be focused on trying to showcase the simplest fried chicken sandwich at each joint, so definitely be on the lookout for more to come.
Nested in the heart of Capitol Hill, right in between Neumo's and The Runaway, Bok a Bok serves up a variety of Korean fried chicken and fried chicken sandwiches. I chose the New Classic Fried Chicken Sandwich ($9). Situated between a sweet soft brioche bun, there is a juicy double-fried chicken thigh. Once you bite into it, you will hear a satisfying crunch, which you would come to expect from Bok a Bok, and these are amplified on the edges of the sandwich. To help balance it out, the spring onion remoulade is slathered on the buns along with a tasty layer of sweet pickles. There was even a little hint of spice with Korean chili pepper sprinkled on the chicken itself. The shaved iceberg lettuce was kind of an afterthought, but I was not here for the lettuce.
The sandwich was small, but a good size. If you are hungry, grabbing a side of kimchi or some tater tots would be a good move. They also have a good variety of fried chicken sandwiches ranging from a "Soy Sesame Garlic" to "Spicy". Next time, I have got my eye on the Yuzu Green Chili Fried Chicken Sandwich and a side of tater tots.
